Durham County FA – Youth Council application


Durham County FA are looking to recruit a new cohort of Young Leaders to assemble the Youth Council for this season. The aim of the Youth Council is to drive Durham FA’s work with Children and Young People, ensuring that their voices are heard and that Football works for them. The Youth Council with work with CYP partners, clubs and the education sector to ensure that as many people as possible have the chance to be heard. 

The Youth Council will work with alongside with Durham FA staff to carry out research, gain experience in Football Development, run leadership programme events (such as training workshops and fundraising events) and promote the FA and Durham FA initiatives as ambassadors for the programme. The group will meet once a month, at Durham FA Headquarters with dates and times being arranged by the group.

There are 7 roles to apply for which is a great opportunity for 16-25 year olds to get involved and have a real impact on Grassroots Football within Durham County. For any Young Leader who is passionate about football, this is something for you.

The deadline for applications is Friday 10th January at 5pm. Please note, no late applications will be accepted.

Chairperson – will be required to:

  • Lead on all Youth Council meetings
  • Facilitate discussions with the team
  • Oversee all programmes delivered by the Youth Council
  • Liaise with Durham FA staff
  • Act as a representative of the Youth Council where deemed appropriate, such as Durham FA council and Inclusion Advisory Group meetings
  • Act as a mentor to younger/less experienced members if required
  • Coordinate an annual Youth Council event calendar

Research & Insight Officer – will be required to:

  • Lead research around effectiveness of the Durham FA Leadership Programme
  • Carry out any insight requirements across all Youth Council projects
  • Obtain questionnaires/insight required by Durham FA staff
  • Liaise with Durham FA staff
  • Deputise in the chairperson’s absence

Funding Officer – will be required to:

  • Manage a virtual budget with CFA staff
  • Bring in funding from external sources to support the development of projects
  • Coordinate kit and resource orders
  • Source funding to support with CPD courses

Media Officer – will be required to:

  • Raise awareness of the Youth Council and their role
  • Promote Youth Council events and projects
  • Manage social media
  • Liaise with CFA Marketing & Communications Officer regarding promotion on CFA website/social media
  • Put together a communications plan for the Youth Council
  • Support the Project Team with promotion of events and initiatives

3x Project Officers – will be required to:

  • Undertake roles with ongoing projects set by Durham FA Leadership FDO
  • Support with Lionesses Academy and Leadership Programme events
  • Support with recruitment of young leaders in your local area
  • Support the Media Officer with the promotion of the Leadership Programme
  • Raise awareness of Football Futures and its opportunities by delivering presentations in your local area
